Ridotto, Concerts "with a Touch of Theatre", presents "Il Parnaso Confuso", a fully staged Opera Serenata in one act by hr. W. von Gluck with text by Pietro Metastasio. Apollo and three of his Muses prepare for a performance at the wedding of Archduke Joseph with princess Josepha Maria of Bavaria. Melpomene, Erato and Euterpe are as brilliant and inspired in their arts as they are ill prepared for the royal assignment.
With a cast of four sopranos: Apollo (Elizabeth Hillebrandt), Melpomene (Marie Mascari), Euterpe (Christine Free), and Erato (Nina Berman). The Ridotto Chamber Orchestra is under the direction of Margaretha Maimone.
A reception follows the performance.
The performance is Sunday May 18, 2008 at 4 pm. in Old First Church, on Rt. 25A in Huntington.
Ticket prices are $20, $18 (seniors), $15 (members), $10 (students).
